It looks like the House of Chanel is going to re-live the glorious days of the famous Chanel Reissue 2.55, a bag personally designed by Coco Chanel herself. It’s the classic flap bag that never goes out of style, talk about creating lasting impression in the fashion world.

History has it that sometime in the 1920’s, Coco was fed up of carrying her handbags in her arms so she decided to design her own handbag that freed up her hands. Finding inspiration on soldiers’ bags, she found an ingenious way to add thin straps and introduced this timeless bag to the public in 1929. The said bag made its triumphant comeback in 1954 and Chanel further updated the said handbag. The finished product is now known as the 2.55 Bag named after the date of its creation, February 1955.

Karl Lagerfeld, the brains behind Chanel reintroduced the 2.55 Flap Bag and later became known as the ‘Reissue’. Apparently, Chanel is going to introduce a new line of bags that require appreciable technical expertise in treating the leather which gradually acquires a patina that gives each bag its unique appeal. Voila! And now you have the Reissue 2.55 bag in soft leather.

Now let’s take a good look at the new Chanel Reissue 2.55 Bag in Soft Leather. At first glance, it looks quite the same with the original bag but looking closer, there’s actually more to see. The new 2.55 bag’s bottom is crafted in red/burgundy color and if you really pay close attention to details, you’ll definitely appreciate the added elegant chain which more looks like a necklace’s chain to us. These are new changes that Chanel lovers would undoubtedly be smitten with.

Mansur Gavriel Fall 2016 Collection

The girls behind Mansur have done it again with minimal elegance that mysteriously tugs at our hearts. As they’ve widened their scope far past their mega-hit bucket bag, which for monthscouldn’t stay on the shelves, into multiple styles, along with a full range of footwear, you have to wonder: What’s their secret? Power duo Rachel and Floriana have an uncanny knack for honing in on the details that make the biggest impact with the least amount of fuss, and they let their great quality say the rest. The result is a statement that’s minimal yet potent, with pieces that let your personal style speak for itself.

The Fall ’16 collection just debuted at New York Fashion Week, seemingly moments ago, and Tina was there firsthand to take it all in. But unlike most other presentations, Mansur Gavriel is serving up instant gratification. The collection is already launching today exclusively on Moda Operandi. Snap up the Elegant bag, a framed top-handle that’s just demure enough. In pale pink suede, it feels like the ultimate indulgence. Much like the brand’s way with the bucket, they’ve imbued the classic backpack with an elevated edge, one few possess. It’s sportier than the Elegant yet still undeniably refined. They also launched five fresh shoe styles for the new season, but I can’t help it: I’m all about their bags. The Elegant bag, $795, and backpack, $895, are exclusively available on Moda Operandiicon.

The Biggest Trend in Bags Today

Biggest Trends in Bags Today

Right now, the overarching trend in bags is everything optimistic and fun. It’s not the shape that makes a bag a must-have anymore. Instead of specific silhouettes, it’s all about the vivacious and expressive. Think details that catch the eye for bags that are personality-driven and tell a story – so you can tell your own story with your bag. What’s not to love about that?!

1. Exuberant Embellishment
Tiers of multicolored fringe and candy-like gobs of crystals, printed strips of snakeskin to wacky effects, and silver baubles to take your bag into the next dimension: Whether it’s Saint Laurent making the point that the tacky can be terrific or Proenza Schouler playfully reinventing the stud, embellishments are going full-throttle right now and making zero apologies.

2. Cartoon Fun
It seems like not too long ago that bags with character, literally, were nothing but kitschy statement pieces to take on the street style scene and then put away for good. Those days are over. We have Fendi to thank for much of this ongoing trend, and whether you choose their Buggies’ eyes; Lanvin’s sweet sketches, courtesy of Alber Elbaz; or Karl’s robotic likeness, these bags will make you feel like you’ve got a buddy with you at all times.

3. Stark Black and White
Sometimes you crave a bag that acts as a clean slate for your own exuberant personality. Enter the black and white palette. But the latest batch of sharp bags offers a bit more punctuation than their more ordinary graphic counterparts. Lanvin’s painterly crossbody is as lively as a neutral bag can be, Victoria Beckham’s is so fresh and so clean, and The Row’s canvas tote wins personality points with its extreme shape and retro handle.

4. Texture
There’s something so satisfying about carrying a bag that makes you want to reach out and touch it. The subtlest bags of the bunch, a little bit of texture can go a long way – and a lot goes even further. Take just a panel of raffia, via Balenciaga’s Le Dix; feel instantly pretty with Alaïa’s floral appliqués and laser cutouts; or get in on some spring-ready stripes with Mulberry’s raffia weave.

5. Spring Florals
Florals for spring may be far from revolutionary, to paraphrase the words of Miranda Priestly, but these actually transcend their genre. Thanks to Fendi’s zany (and partially python) daisies, Proenza’s magnified tropical greenhouse motif, and Alexander McQueen’s sculptural explosion of blossoms, to name a few, the flower has more power than ever before.

These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Wednesday.

Birkin bag sells for record price at auction in Hong Kong
A recent study claimed that Hermès Birkin bags are a better investment than stocks or gold, and an auction sale on Monday in Hong Kong more than confirmed their potential return. An anonymous buyer purchased a 30-centimeter Birkin bag made of rare Himalayan crocodile and diamond-encrusted white gold hardware for the equivalent of $300,168, making it the world’s most expensive handbag ever auctioned. The previous record-holder: a fuchsia diamond-studded Hermès Birkin auctioned for $222,000 last year. {CNN}

PETA protests Hermès's annual meeting in Paris
Speaking of Hermès's use of rare crocodile skin, PETA continues to put pressure on the company after purchasing stock in it last year. The animal rights organization sent a representative to Hermès's annual shareholders' meeting on Tuesday in Paris, who "urged the fashion house to end all exotic-skin sales," per a statement from PETA. Meanwhile, protestors holding large images of ostriches waited outside. {Fashionista inbox}

Does Rodarte actually exist?
Robin Givhan investigates the business, or lack thereof, of cult-favorite fashion brand Rodarte. Despite reported ambitions to expand (designers and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy declined to comment), the independent label only releases two seasons a year to very few retail points with minimal size ranges and high prices. "But should the industry offer the top CFDA honor to a label that aims to be more of a personal creative outlet than a scalable business?" writes Givhan. {The Washington Post}

Teva collaborates with singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko
In its first celebrity partnership, Teva has teamed up with the Grammy-nominated artist Jhené Aiko on three new women's styles inspired by her childhood friendship bracelets and lifelong love of adventure. The collection is available at Teva.com and DSW.com starting at $60. {Fashionista inbox}

U.S. customs agents bust counterfeit perfume operation
If your Chanel No.5 smells more like urine than citrus, you may have been the victim of a five-man counterfeit operation arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security division this week. Officials confiscated 10,000 boxes of perfumes made from urine, antifreeze and other bad stuff branded as Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Chanel No. 5, Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, Gucci Guilty and many more popular scents. {The Fashion Law}

Reports reveal widespread abuse of garment workers in Asia
New reports by the Asia Floor Wage Alliance based on interviews with workers at factories used by H&M, Gap, and Walmart in Cambodia, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia reveal widespread worker abuse. Garment laborers are fired for becoming pregnant and pressured to tolerate sexual harassment as well as suffer wage theft and unsafe work schedules, among other offenses. "Voluntary enforcement is not working, which is why we need binding regulation with grievance procedures, arbitration procedures," says Anannya Bhattacharjee, international coordinator of the AFWA. {Quartz}

READ: Chanel Cruise 2016 Seasonal Bag Collection

We can’t answer that, but we can tell you this.

The Chanel Backpack is one of a kind; the popular Classic Flap Bag serves as a front bag. It looks very similar – it’s quilted, adorned with the CC logo and the beautiful front flap can be opened to store your instant essentials. But is it not weird? You carry the Classic Flap Bag on your shoulder and now it’s attached to this backpack?

The bag opens and closes like a drawstring bag – pull on the interwoven strap on the top. The size is very large, you can most definitely store a lot of essentials inside. We think this bag will draw a lot of attention. So maybe its the perfect travel bag, don’t you think?
